Self Discovery

Standard

A journey of self discovery.
A trip into darkness.
A light forced to burn brighter,
My life held by hope’s harness.

It’s amazing how You know just what I need.
In You I stand complete.

Steadied in the rocky climb,
Growing in the struggle.
Holding onto peace,
Learning how to juggle.

It’s amazing how You know just what I need.
In You I stand complete.

Lodges, bonfires and trees.
Never-ending company,
Within the gentle breeze.
Your Love is calling out to me.

It’s amazing how You know just what I need.
In You I stand complete.

The Spirit helps me see
The way in which to walk
I’m learning to do and be –
Life is more than just talk.

It’s amazing how You know just what I need.
In You I stand complete.

Day 30: You Have Value

Standard

I watched The Prince of Egypt again today, (because – why not?) and the main thing I got from it this time was from the song “Through Heaven’s Eyes.”

Sometimes we can feel less than important. We can feel like we aren’t good enough, or that because we’re just one person, we could never make a difference. That’s not how God sees us.

Each of us are important. That’s not to say that we should be put on pedestals or that we should be full of pride. Quite the opposite. We are important because God values us. Jesus sacrificed His life for us. We are important because as we fulfil God’s plans, and live for His purposes, He will be glorified through us. Our lives have meaning and purpose far beyond what we could ever see or imagine in our own strength.

Let’s take time to remember, we need to look at our lives through Heaven’s eyes, we need to see ourselves as God sees us. God knows the plans that He has for us. We must honour and trust Him, and trust that He knows more than we do. We don’t see the whole plan, but God does, and we can trust that every step of the way, He is leading us. If we are willing and obedient, if we do what He says, He will order our steps in line with His plan, and we will live fulfilled, long lives for His glory.

Don’t give up hope. You are important, because God made you, God loves you, and God has an awesome plan for your life.

I encourage you to trust God, trust that Jesus can set you free, and let Him lead you into the fullness of life that He has in store for you.

Day 28: The Ground

Standard

So fertile, yet crops wither.
All that’s needed is Light –
But not even a slither
Reaches the depths of the compact soil
And the pavemented streets.
They suffer and dry up
Without the heat.

The war isn’t over
They haven’t found their peace.

It’s only Your Love that brings release.
So why are we still fighting,
Struggling to see
If we really want the captives
To be set free?

Day 26: Keep Going.

Standard

“It’s hard to know what I should do.”

Keep going.

“There’s hurt and pain and everything’s wrong.”

Keep going.

“I don’t see the way.”

Keep going.

“I’ve fallen before.”

Keep going.

“I feel so helpless.”

Keep going.

One thing I can tell you

His word is true.

One thing I can tell you

He will come through.

One thing I can tell you

It’s not over yet.

One thing I can tell you

Have no more regrets.

For there is One who

Will make the darkness light

There is One who

Does everything right.

So you’re broken, lost and hurting

Keep going.

This one thing I can tell you –

There is One who can save.

Day 25: Lost to Pride

Standard

“We’ve come so far
So help me out.”
“It’s worth it, yes
I have no doubt.”

Hand in hand,
Side by side.
Lay it down –
Lose the pride.

One in the rain,
One in the sun.
Just sit and watch –
The show’s not done.

Hand in hand,
Side by side.
Lay it down –
Lose the pride.

There’s future here.
There’s hope restored.
Wide open arms,
True love explored.

Hand in hand,
Side by side.
Lay it down –
Lose the pride.

A whisper waits,
A shout is calling.
Bright early eyes,
The dusk is dawning.

Hand in hand,
Side by side.
Lay it down –
Lose the pride.

Be on your way
And don’t look back.
You’ve made a choice –
Stick to the track.

Hand in hand,
Side by side.
Lay it down –
Lose the pride.

Decisions made
Fickle as you are –
You let false truth
Taint and scar.

You were hand in hand.
You were side by side.
You didn’t lay it down,
So you lost to pride.

Day 8: Poetry – “When I’m Camping”

Standard

When I’m camping, I’m held in Your grace,
A constant reminder of Your secret place.
It isn’t the same as the routine day,
I’m learning to trust in a whole new way.

A fresh mindset sets me free from clutter.
Reminded of Your Love and the peace You utter
Through the people I’ve met, and the Words You’ve spoken.
Now I come before You with my ears wide open.

There’s something in the breeze and the rain’s soft patter,
That helps me to focus on what really matters.
I’m not lost at home and I know where You are
I’ve heard Your voice, I’ve felt Your power.

I trust in Your Grace to lead me through,
Somehow, being outside draws me closer to You.
I hear it in the birdsong and I feel it in the wind,
The cares I’ve held so close begin to quickly dim.

The voices fully fade and all I hear is You.
There’s joy within the garden, an unobstructed view
Of Your glory and Your splendour. Your comfort stirs within.
I hear it in the birdsong and I feel it in the wind.

I’m trusting in Your mercy and Your awesome healing touch.
I know that You are with me when life’s storms just seem too much.
You’re with me in the trials, my feet on solid ground.
Your peace now washes over, Your favour all around.

My strength is in Your saving grace, I’ve known this every day.
My spirit rests assured that You alone will lead the way.
I’ve known Your mercy, true and true, Your arms are open wide.
I’m held within Your secret place, as I rest outside.

————————————————-

I didn’t plan to write a poem today. My plan was actually to just write a piece about why I like camping, but as I started to type this is what happened. This was purely the Holy Spirit. I hope you’re blessed by it. 🙂
